In honor of Veterans Day on November 11, take a moment to learn about Project Healing Waters, a non-profit organization that seeks to “assist in the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active duty military personnel and veterans through fly fishing and fly-tying education and outings” (according to the organization’s mission statement). The organization has Virginia program locations in Ft. Belvoir, Hampton, Newport News, Richmond, and Salem. In May 2011, its 5th Annual 2-Fly Tournament was held at Rose River Farm in near Syria (Madison County, Va.), featuring 12 pro-guide/veteran teams and 18 other tw0-person teams, and raising $165,000 for the organization.
