1st Virginia Marine Debris Summit, Feb. 27-28, 2013, in Virginia Beach

The 1st Virginia Marine Debris Summit was held February 27-28, 2013, at the Virginia Aquarium in Virginia Beach.  The meeting was organized by the Virginia Coastal Zone Management Program, the Virginia Aquarium, Clean Virginia Waterways, the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, and Virginia Commonwealth University.  The meeting discussed sources of marine debris; potential solutions education, incentives, and technology; and the formulation of a Virginia Marine Debris Management Plan.  For more information: http://www.deq.virginia.gov/Programs/CoastalZoneManagement/CZMIssuesInitiatives/VirginiaMarineDebris.aspx; or contact Virginia Witmer, Virginia Coastal Zone Management Program, phone (804) 698-4320.
