Role of Virginia’s Soil and Water Conservation Districts in Water-quality Services and Technical Assistance is Focus of Seven Public Meetings in October and November 2013

Between October 1 and November 7, 2013, the Virginia Department of Conservation, Department of Environmental Quality, and State Water Control Board are holding seven public meeting on the role of Virginia’s soil and water conservation districts (SWCDs) in providing water-quality services and technical assistance.  This examination of the SWCDs was called for in “Enactment Clause 12” of companion bills House Bill 2048 and Senate Bill 1279 of the 2013 General Assembly Session (bills that moved certain water-quality programs from the DCR to the DEQ).  The public meetings will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the following dates and in the following locations (click on the meeting dates to be taken to the Virginia Regulatory Town Hall notices about the meetings):

10/1/13: At the Augusta County Government Center in Verona;

10/3/11: Henrico County Government Center in Henrico;

10/8/13: Chesapeake, Hampton Roads Planning District Offices in Chesapeake;

10/24/13: Emory and Henry College in Emory (Washington County);

10/28/13; Culpeper County Reva Fire and Rescue in Culpeper;

10/30/13: Olde Dominion Agricultural Complex, Chatham (Pittsylvania County);

11/7/13: Eastern Shore Community College, Melfa (Accomack County).
