On October 31, one day after the conclusion of the 2013 Major League Baseball World Series, baseball fans and weather/climate watchers might enjoy “Steroids and carbon dioxide—the wisdom of metaphor,” in the Spring/Summer 2013 issue of Coastal Heritage, from the South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium. This one-page article looks at the value of an expression connected to an unfortunate part of professional baseball history–“being on steroids”—as a metaphor for the impacts of climate change on extreme weather events.
