Hydraulic Fracturing Gas and Oil Wells in United States from 1947-2010 Documented in U.S. Geological Survey Report Released in January 2015

In January 2015, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) released a report and accompanying data set on the location and methods used in hydraulic fracturing gas and oil wells across the United States from 1947 to 2010.  The 15-page report, “Trends in Hydraulic Fracturing Distributions and Treatment Fluids, Additives, Proppants, and Water Volumes Applied to Wells Drilled in the United States from 1947 through 2010—Data Analysis and Comparison to the Literature” (U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Report 2014–5131), is available online at http://pubs.usgs.gov/sir/2014/5131/.
