On June 2, 2016, the official opening ceremony was held for Dominion Virginia Power’s $1.27-billion, 1358-megawatt-capacity, natural-gas fired power plant in Brunswick County, Va. The plant actually began operations in April 2016. The Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) had approved Dominion’s application for the plant in August 2013, and construction started in September 2013.
The plant is about five miles from the Greensville County, Va., site of another Dominion natural-gas-fired plant, under construction as of December 1, 2016. For a Water Central News Grouper post on the Greensville proposed plant, please click here.
