Virginia Land Conservation Foundation Grants of $6.42 Million for 23 Projects Announced Sep. 22, 2016

On September 22, 2016, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe’s office announced 23 Fiscal Year 2017 grants, worth a total of $6.42 million, from the Virginia Land Conservation Foundation.  The Foundation was established in 1999 by the Virginia General Assembly for the purpose of helping “fund the purchase of permanent conservation easements, open spaces and parklands, lands of historic or cultural significance, farmlands and forests, and natural areas,” according to the Foundation’s Web site, http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/virginia-land-conservation-foundation/.  Following are project names, locations, recipients, and amounts of the FY 2017 grants.  More details on the grants are available in the Governor’s Office’s 9/22/16 news release, Governor McAuliffe Announces $6.42 Million in Land Conservation Grants.

Farmland Protection along the Rapidan River, Orange County, Piedmont Environmental Council, $250,000.

Pleasant Grove Easement, Fluvanna County, Virginia Department of Forestry, $230,000.

Wingfield–Cosby Acquisition, Louisa County, Virginia Department of Forestry, $170,412.
